firefox 46 i can't oprn sites from bookmarks in a new tab option is greyed out

When I right click on my bookmarks my bookmarked sites are on a drop down menu I used to be able to open them up in a new tab or a new window. This is now greyed out not allowing that

Is this problem using the classic menu bar at the top of the browser?

There is a strange problem with the right-click context menu going gray on that Bookmarks menu after using the Customize feature. It should be okay in a different window (you can launch a new window using Ctrl+n) but I don't know of a way to "ungray" it in the same window.

If it's not convenient to use a new window, you can launch a bookmark in a new tab using these methods (same as a link in a webpage):

  • hold down Ctrl when clicking the bookmark/link
  • middle-click the bookmark/link using the mouse scroll wheel
