I'm trying to help my mom. She uses Thunderbird. Her version 102.0.1 (on Windows 11) includes 5 tabs in the Inbox/Properties: General Information, Retention Policy, Synchronization, Sharing, and Quota. I downloaded Thunderbird 102.0.1 on my computer today (running Windows 10) and logged into her account... my Inbox/Properties only has 2 tabs: General Information & Retention Policy. Any idea why?

She has the Quota tab showing 98% full for storage and 1% full for messages... where is this 5GB storage? I've looked at her internet/email provider and can't find any "storage" quota besides her email messages...

I've been keeping my old mail since 2003. It's kind of my second brain, useful for referring back to transactions or agreements I've mostly forgotten. There's quite a lot of it, and I don't want to clog up my server with it, so I periodically drag emails from my IMAP Inbox, Sent, and Trash to folders in Local Folders. I started this process years ago before Thunderbird began automatically making an "Archive" folder for each account. Coincidentally, when I began archiving my old mail this way, I put it in a folder in Local Folders named "Archives". My Archives folder has yearly subfolders ("2003 Mail", "2004 Mail", etc.) and subfolders within those for "Sent" and "Received". Of course, I also have an Archive (without an s) folder in my IMAP account and in Local Folders, but the Archive folders are empty.

I keep my email folders (the Local Folders "Local Directory") backed up using Google Drive for Desktop.

This system worked well for years, and I've managed to use this system to move mail from computer to computer. Lately, over the past two years, I've noticed that large chunks of email that I recently moved from my IMAP account to Local Folders have disappeared. The first time I noticed it I attributed it to some kind of random glitch, perhaps my own mistake somehow. Since then, I've watched the process more carefully. I'll move a chunk of email, watch for it to finish, and then check the Archives subfolders to see that the number of messages increased by the number of messages I moved. Everything appears to be there, but then a few weeks later when I'm trying to dredge up some old email, I find that the entire chunk of email that I moved is no longer in my Archives subfolder. This last time, I lost all of my Sent and Received emails from April to June. In effect, instead of archiving three months of email, they somehow got deleted, even though they were definitely there a few minutes after moving them.

I've seen recommendations that we should never move more than 1,000 emails at a time. I'm generally moving fewer than that, maybe 300 or 500 emails, two or three months' worth at a time. I know that moving my emails off IMAP means they reside without backup on my hard drive, which is why I began backing them up with Google Drive. Of course, at this point Google Drive has backed up the much-reduced version of the files that contain my emails, so they're just gone.

Has anyone ever heard of losing emails like this? Even though this worked great for at least 15 years, maybe I'm somehow doing something wrong now?

However, when I enter the event on google calendar website, it does not automatically appear on my Thunderbird Google Calendar. Don't understand this. The only add-on I have on Thunderbird is the 'Provider for Google Calendar' (to allow bidirectional access to google calendar). I don't see any settings to fix this. Help! Note: It updates when I press 'synchronize' on Thunderbird, but I don't want to have to remember to do that. Should be automatic!!

Running Win10 - latest greatest TB 102.0.0

Yesterday at midnight I received 2 email in my inbox - readable and fine.

This morning the same 2 emails, still in my inbox was looking strange - one in which the content was completely blank, the other was filled with lines from an old email. I tried to view the 'sourcecode' but it was empty on both of them. Headlines 'to' and 'from' and subject was still ok.

After that I upgraded to TB ver 102.0.1

Received and submitted several emails - during the day - fine.

Then I submitted an email to X in the same moment a new email Y was coming in my inbox - Headlines in the just arrived email Y was showing 'to' and 'from' and 'subject' okay but the content of the email was the lines from the resent submitted email X.

I have only seen this on a POP account - my IMAP accounts seems ok for now

After updating to Thunderbird 102.0 the Crash reporter opens every time I open the program. I use multiple profiles and this causes me to have to deal with the Crash Reporter multiple times a day. Today I updated to 102.1 and it STILL is causing the Crash reporter to open.

And on top of that none of the extensions like the Tbsync and Provider for Caldav are working. I have used this program for close to 15 years and never had issues until now. No other programs I use are crashing and I have run DISM and SFC.

When the e-mails are downloaded, a filter is applied and the e-mail is placed in a folder. After exiting and restarting Thunderbird, the last emails are downloaded again and the filter is no longer used. So I have two identical emails. One in the folder and second in the Inbox. I have it set so that emails are not deleted on the server. This described problem only happens 1 time. If I delete the second identical downloaded e-mail, the next identical one will no longer be downloaded. Previous versions did not do this. I didn't change any settings.

Until recently, my AOL, Netscape and Yahoo accounts in TB all displayed all emails in my inbox, some 40,000+ for each account. Then suddenly, first my AOL account, then the Netscape account and now the Yahoo accounts are all limited to 10,000 emails in the inbox on TB. They all still reside on the web based programs, AOL, Netscape (AOL), and Yahoo. Years of emails just vanished. I tried deleting and re loading my AOL account hoping to repopulate it with the web based emails in the inbox but it came back with the most recent 10,000. I used the inbox like a search engine for subjects, attachments and correspondents in the past and that is all but impossible on the web based programs. Is there any way to return to the all inclusive storage of emails, especially to repopulate from the web based programs?

On my new laptop, Thunderbird is locking up and lagging over and over. It happens to everything I try to do when I start the program, and then after I use the program for awhile, everything is OK until I get an incoming email - then Thunderbird locks up until the email is fully loaded.

When I first load the program lags are happening when I: Select a menu, choose an email to view, when I try to type something the cursor freezes and then after a short wait it types what I just typed. Pretty much all operations lag a lot, even clicking on the X to close the window. After I use the program for awhile, this gets better, but not 100%. As I mentioned the program lags when I get an incoming email.

I only have one add-on installed and it's disabled. It's called, "Manually Sort Folders." I have the latest version of Thunderbird. I'm running Windows 11 64 bit. My laptop has Optane memory built in. Is the Optane technology causing this? When I run Firefox I have no issues at all - even if Thunderbird does.

As you can imagine this is frustrating when I get to work and I have to answer a lot of emails. Would you guys walk me through possible solutions?

Thunderbird 91.9.1 crashes on startup under Ubuntu 20.04. I just get the crash reporter.

The system is up to date. The problem started when I changed some server configuration settings due to changes on the mail IMAP server I'm connecting to. Now I can't start thunderbird at all to access the configuration.

I used Thunderbird with apple mail on Windows many years ago on my PC. Later I shifted to eM Client because I liked the options. However, I do like the new Thunderbird 1.02 and wanted to switch back on my new PC.

In the beginning, it asks me my email account... which is a [mac.com](https://mac.com) address, and then it says it found the configuration in the database, and prompts me to finish. But that's where the problems start...

It will not download messages. It either get stuck on Opening folder INBOX and up comes the infamous Windows hourglass... which sits and sits and sits, then eventually says SERVER HAS DISCONNECTED. There may be a problem with the server has disconnected.

As before, I generated a new app-specific password so that's not the problem. The authentication configuration is SSL/TLS and Normal Password. Using [imap.mail.me.com](https://imap.mail.me.com) as the server, port 993. My SMTP port is 587.

I tried new app-specific passwords, no change. I tried using the same exact setup (but different app specific password ) that I use in eM Client which always connects perfectly with zero problems. I tried various authentication changes such as STARTTLS, SSL/TLS and None. No luck. I tried oAuth2, encrypted password, normal password, etc. No luck there either. Tried turning off Windows Defender firewall. No luck. Tried reducing number of connections from 5 to 1. No change.

I also have a separate gmail account. When I added it to Thunderbird, it started right up and immediately began downloading messages just fine. But the apple mail is STILL stuck.

ANY HELP would be appreciated. I've spent too much time on the wrong solutions. When googling, all the solutions suggest the same exact things I tried. No luck. Or the solutions are for older versions of Thunderbird.
