Been using Thunderbird for a number of years but recently the SSD on my laptop became corrupted and I had to buy a new one and install TB and restore my profiles from a backup.

I have two accounts and switch between them with Profile Manager.

The new laptop is an ASUS Vivobook with Win 11 Home and although TB runs ok the first time, if I close the current session and try to open the other account, nothing happens when I click on TB icon on the taskbar. IF I wait for around 5 minutes then it will run

Checked in Task Manager and cant see any instances of TB running, so any thoughts on what's wrong. Does not matter which order I open the accounts.

Recently updated to ESR Meadow.

Now when I try to save attachment from an email by dragging and dropping to desktop, Windows pops up "Error Moving File or Folder - Unspecified error" and the operation fails.

And when I try to save attachment from an email by right click > open > Save dialog, the save filename is always "nsmail" but with the original file extension. E.g. a jpg attachment would come up as "nsmail.jpg", and a txt file attachment would come up as nsmail.txt. It does then save it, but why lose the filename?

It used to preserve the attachment filename, I'm sure! And drag and drop to desktop was such a convenient feature!

I have tried in Troubleshoot mode and behaviour is the same. I have tried in Windows Safe mode and behaviour for Save is the same; but drag and drop is completely disabled there (when I drag it, it shows a circle with line through icon).

Is it just me?

Hello Thunderbird Support, I am experiencing a severe IMAP folder synchronization loop with my Yahoo Mail account (paulpersonne519@yahoo.fr) inside Thunderbird. Yahoo Support claims the issue is caused by Thunderbird's folder mapping, so I am reaching out to you for a solution.

1. 1. The Problem:

The system-protected folder "Bulk" (Spam) has somehow been moved or mapped as a subfolder inside the "Trash" folder.

• In the Yahoo Mail Web UI (Chrome), the subfolder is invisible, but the Trash directory shows an arrow (^) indicating a child folder exists.
• In Thunderbird, the Bulk folder is clearly visible inside the Trash folder, marked with the flame (Junk) icon.

1. 1. What goes wrong:

When I delete spam messages via Thunderbird, they get trapped inside this nested Trash/Bulk directory. If I try to delete or empty it, the emails disappear but the folder itself cannot be removed.

1. 1. Steps tried so far that failed:

  1. Attempting to delete or rename the Bulk folder inside Trash gives the server error: [CANNOT] DELETE failed - Mailbox is reserved.
  2. Using Shift + Delete on the folder is rejected by the Yahoo server.
  3. Unsubscribing from the folder via "Advanced IMAP settings" -> "Show only subscribed folders" fails; Thunderbird re-downloads the structure on the next sync.
  4. I have completely deleted my old Thunderbird profile folder and created a brand new one using thunderbird.exe -P. Upon adding the Yahoo account via OAuth2, Thunderbird immediately pulled the same broken Trash/Bulk structure from the server again.

Since Yahoo refuses to help and claims Thunderbird caused this mapping loop, is there a hidden config setting (about:config) or a database override in Thunderbird that can force the server to release or move this reserved folder back to the root directory? Thank you for your assistance.

After returning from a 6 day vacation, my wife attempted to download email from her Yahoo email account. There are nearly 200 messages that have piled up but they aren't moving. I've uninstalled and re-installed TB. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app password in Yahoo. There is no problem with accessing the email via any web browser. I spent 49 minutes on a tech support call with Yahoo and they have said the problem is with TB because they repeated the same steps I have. I checked firewall settings and the only antivirus program on the computer is Malware Bytes and it's not running in the background. The version of TB is the most recent as of yesterday. I don't see any sketchy looking emails in the web version of Yahoo Mail when it's opened. It's set up as a POP3 account and has been since Cox Internet gave their email over to Yahoo. I'd appreciate any assistance in resolving this because it's currently above my pay grade and tech support at Yahoo.

Hi, I have two accounts in my Thunderbird. They are Gmail (regular gmail account) and CFCC (an institutional account). The CFCC shows up in my Unified Folder list but the Gmail does not. Is that normal? The main Inbox is showing all incoming emails from both accounts so no performance issues, just wondering how to get rid of the CFCC (if that's possible) to eliminate clutter. Goedendag, Ben zelf nieuw in Thunderbird. Ik heb diverse mailaccounts en ik zie een Verzamelmap staan met daarin ondermeer de Concepten en Verzonden mails. Deze zie ik liever per account weergegeven worden, kan dat?

Ik gebruik IMAP op al mijn accounts, na het instellen zie ik per account wel al mijn ontvangen mails staan, maar niet de verzonden mails? Ik denk dat dit inherent is aan mijn vraag, maar hoe kan ik dat dus oplossen?

Tot slot zie ik Mail-conversaties staan van berichten en hun antwoorden, maar dat wil ik helemaal niet. Ik wil gewoon alle berichten op datum & tijd gesorteerd zien staan. Hoe krijg ik er die conversaties uit?

I have four AOL-based eMail accounts I follow on TB; let's call them A, B, C and D. The folder contents on A & C are correct. However, for some odd reason, TB is placing the contents of A's eMail folders in B and in D! I have deleted the accounts twice, closed TB, re-started, and re-added B and D accounts, but the contents still are of A's eMails?!? Please help!

Why is Thunderbird email for PC and Android suddenly loading and syncing so slow this week...very frustrating. I have a gmail email...gmail site is fine. I've compacted all folder, etc and IMAP server server setting for years.

Each time I open TBird, I get a message at the bottom left of the screen telling me that TBird has deleted X number of messages. I do not want TBird to ever delete any messages. How do I turn this automatic delete function off?

Thunderbird has stopped receiving or sending email. I just tried to send a message and received the following error message: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again." This has been a problem for several days. Potentially since the last update. Please help. Thank you.

My problem is that I can’t get into Thunderbird because each time I start it up I’m presented with a window that says "System Integration" (Not Responding)" and I have no way of making progress – all I can do is use Task Manager to exit TB.

The “system integration” window first appeared a few days ago and initially I was able to dismiss it by choosing the “Skip integration” option. Today was the first time it became unresponsive. No changes have been made to the system and TB should be up to date – though, not being able to open TB, I can’t check the version number (probably esr).

I have used TB for many years and have it installed on two PCs, both running on Windows 11. It’s working as normal on the other computer.

I’ve tried rebooting the computer, to no effect. I’ve also tried to open TB in troubleshooting mode but can’t get past the "System Integration" (Not Responding)" window.

It’s been a couple of months since I backed up so I’m really hoping there will be a solution that preserves all my emails, address book and calendar.

I’d be very grateful for any suggestions.

Hi, Hoping I can get some help here, I couldn't find an answer in the search topics.

I have lost a few local subfolders. First the subfolders lost the emails contained in them and then the subfolders themselves disappeared.

I renamed the main folder just removing the year from the folder name and not long after that the above happened.

I have tried the following:

• Searching the help topics • Searching the forum • Closing reopening Thunderbird • I removed .msf files and restarted Thunderbird

I am not sure what I can do now.

My computer unexpectedly shut down when the power went out. When I try to open Mozilla Thunderbird, it doesn´t respond. Messages appear on the tabs at the top and a dot flashes on one. When I press anything, the text turns gray and the program doesn´t respond. I´ve turned off my computer many times, and that doesn´t help. I´ve also deleted a locked file according to the instructions. The situation is the same in Safe Mode, and it doesn´t help. What should I do now? Thank you!

I rather doubt the veracity of this, seeing it includes “I can see the full list of your contacts from your phone and all your social networks” — since I do not access the Internet from any telephone.

It has been several years since I’ve received something of this sort, so have remained confident that my system(s) remain well-protected. However, since the message did arrive in one of my email accounts, is there still the potential of my contacts list(s) being compromised, and, if so, how to safeguard against that?
