Update just installed a version my computer can't run.
I haven't been able to update to the latest version of Firefox for several months as I am still on OS 10.4, however at least previous update messages were smart enough not to get me to download something I couldn't run. Today, however, it updated and then couldn't even open Firefox, stating it couldn't run on my software version. Now I have to try and find an old version of firefox, but am completely lost - I'm using an old version i'd had saved on my computer for now, but it's outdated compared to what I was using before your "update" undid all my previous updates that had me as updated as I could be on my system, and now my add-ons won't even run or anything. Now I have to waste today trying to undo what your update did. Any help would be appreciated, but fixing the updater so that people know beforehand what and update would do would be a better thing to do. My most important question - CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THE HIGHEST UPDATED VERSION OF FIREFOX IS THAT I CAN INSTALL/USE WHILE RUNNING OSX 10.4.11, THANK YOU.

Firefox 3.6.28 is the highest that will run on 10.4 on either PowerPC or Intel. The updater used to know that... http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older
Since Fx3.6 is not getting any security updates, you probably will need to consider an OS upgrade or a browser change at some point.

I think the last version for 10.4 is going to be 3.6.something.
You may want to check out TenFourFox at http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
It does not support plugins by default, but does allow you to continue to run an updated browser on 10.4.
Hi winders, unfortunately TenFourFox is built for PowerPC-based Macs, and unless they've changed their approach, does not run on Intel-based Macs.
Thanks for your help. As for needing to update, I'm pretty sure anyone with an operating system recently classified as "outdated" can confirm it's impossible to be ignorant of the call to update with every second website and programme hounding with calls to upgrade, but no matter how many times I'm told it doesn't make me magically able to afford to. The most updated version for what I have is the best I can do for now.
