I have this problem also. I noticed it only happens to a window which is on full screen and then minimized. If the window is not full screen then minimize it, then it does not cause a problem when clicking on external links.

If you do happen to get to a blank screen, just click on the button next to the cross in the corner, then your page and tabs will come back.

Hope this helps for those who are getting really frustrated about this problem (INCLUDING ME).

This happened to rarely in Firfox 3. But everytime in Firefox 4.0.1
