Firefox disappeared a folder with hundreds of bookmarks. It was still gone when I restored the bookmarks to a previous point. How do I retrieve it?

A folder with hundreds of bookmarks disappeared. I tried restoring my bookmarks to a previous date but the folder was still gone. Is there any way I can retrieve it? This is the second time that Firefox has "disappeared" a bookmarks folder. I think I am going to have to change browsers.

Did you try all 5 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder in the Firefox Profile Folder ?

First I noticed that an entire folder content disappeared on one computer. (I use the firefox sync feature between 2 pc's). But on the other computer it was still there. Ofcourse then I made the mistake of syncing by clicking the button on the right bottom, and sure enough, firefox "updated" my other computer as well, and deleted the same content on the other computer as well. Grrr....
