Thunderbird 144 crashes right on setup screen (bug1987786)
Right after typing my email address and pressing "Continue", Thunderbird crashes. I wanted to give it a try after many years of not using it, but then it crashes right at the start.

Just a possibility: check settings>general and see if the account hub (experimental) is checked. If so, uncheck and retry your setup.
It was, but unchecking it did not change anything unfortunately. It still crashes the moment I press "Continue".
Well, this looks over my head. My suggestion is two-fold: - restart in troubleshoot mode and see if that works - post the OS version and the Thunderbird version, and info on any antivirus or VPN in use, and whether you had to disable any addons.
That may help in getting more suggestions. Thank you.
When there are crashes please point people to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-crashes and we need their crash IDs.
If there are things missing in the KB article we should add them.

Mac OS 14.5 (23F79), no Antivirus or VPN in use. No addons.
Latest crash report ID: bp-26a8dfed-9e5a-4599-842b-8de580251023
and that crash id points to an MS Exchange bug in Thunderbird 142 initially. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1987786
Version 145 ships later this week with a fix.
Let us know if 145 doesn't fix it.
