Code instead of formatted message
For the occasional message, I get code salad instead of a properly formatted email, for example:

Etc. Any idea what is going on? Started happening in the last week (August 7, 2025 or so). These same emails come in okay on my iPhone and directly in my gmail account.
PS: regular $ supporter of Thunderbird!

are you using an antivirus? Some users expressed problems when using Bitdefender.
Yes, I do use Bitdefender. What would you recommend? BTW, this has not been a problem over the last year of using Bitdefender until last week, so I would guess it has to do with a recent update of Thunderbird.
There has been many reports of issues which seem to effect Pop accounts.
Bitdefender and other AV's are notorious for causing all sorts of issues.
Bitdefender are aware of this issue: https://community.bitdefender.com/en/discussion/comment/356351?tab=all#Comment_356351
There is mention of updates rolling out - so first see if there is an available update for Bitdefender.
Located some info from another user. In Bitdefender -> Protection -> Online Threat Prevention -> Encrypted web scan. Toggling this setting to off seems to stop the corruption occurring.

Thanks, Mr. Hall, I have disabled "Encrypted web scan," and will see if the problem ceases.
