I keep copies of all messages on my imap server and office PC. I also have a notebook PC and installed Thunderbird to keep copies all messages. I need to free space on the notebook. Can I change the "Synchronize all messages locally regardless of age" setting to "Synchronize the most recent" on the notebook without causing the imap server to delete my older messages?

If you need all the messages, leave the sync as you have it. To me, it still seems unreliable, and also work for the PC to do that. But, that's just one opinion. :)
