When I received message before all I had to do was put my browser on the message and it showed the contents of the message. Now my inbox shows all the messages and I need to double click on the message to show the contents. I would like to switch back to where it was before.

It sounds like your 'Message Pane' is not displaying. This is the area below the 'Message List'. Menu app icon (3 lines) > 'View' > 'Layout' > select 'Message Pane'

The 'Message Pane' can also be enabled or disabled by using the F8 key as a shortcut toggle.
