Inbox on Outlook, connected to through IMAP, does show different than Inbox on Thunderbird
Hi,
I am using a long time already Thunderbird in connection with an Outlook account (at work). Recently I need to use Outlook every now and then.
The issue I see is that the Inbox at Outlook shows more mails than the corresponding Inbox at Thunderbird. I.e. mails that I moved from Inbox in Thunderbird to another folder still show in the Outlook Inbox.
See here what I did try already, but ultimately I got stuck ... :
- "compacting" the Inbox at Thunderbird always gives the desired result, i.e. the Outlook Inbox is again synchronous with the Thunderbird Inbox.
- From there, I got some hunch it would be related to the "expunge" functionality. So I decided in the advanced preferences to set:
- "expunge_after_delete" to true
- "expunge_threshold_number" to 0.
However, still no success. Unless I compact manually, the Outlook Inbox stays out of sync.
I don't think it is very version related - feels like I have this issue forever - but now I am on 91.5.0.
Any hint as how I could solve this?

Just a possibility... Is this an Exchange account with IMAP access? If so, you may want to try the ExQuilla addon or the free Davmail facility (which requires JAVA). Both use the EWS protocol.
@David: Too far of a stretch in corporate domain. Already happy IMAP (which it is indeed) works. But not sure why this should be a problem in the first place. "compact" solves. So one of the "compact" steps solves the problem. I would have guessed "expunge", but it doesn't.
