I have multiple accounts in Thunderbird. (why else would I use it?) I have recently created an account with Proton Mail. I wanted to make that my email for friends and family. I expected to be able to send, using previous emails, and set the reply to as my proton mail address. Yes I am able to put a note (signature) that states what my new email is and the signature makes a request that people please change their address book, but I can't set a reply-to address from any account. An alert pops up which states "An error occurred while sending mail. The Mail Server responded: Request Failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please check your message and try again" It does not matter what address I put in the reply-to box, I get the same message? So what is that about? Obviously I am using address' that exist and that I can send to. So why is the Reply-to box not working?

what you are saying is that your mail provider does not allow you to set a reply-to email address outside of their domain, or perhaps at all. I do know the setting a reply-to can cause issues with spam filters marking mail as spam, but this appears to be a message from your providers SMTP server I am assuming they re checking their own mail boxed and not finding the one you list refusing to send. But I have to guess, because only your mail provider knows what hoops you need to jump through to set the reply-to as you wish.
