Sync broken since Firefox 79 on android

Hello,

Since the upgrade, sync is broken. I cannot send tabs to or from android firefox. I used to use to collobarate with my linux desktop, now cannot.

Linux desktop is syning fine. But the firefox android settings have always said:

"Last synced: never"

which means bookmarks, sharing tabs, etc. are all useless now. this totally kills firefox for me.

i have readded and removed and readded and readded the firefox account/pairing with android.

no difference.

This was a major upgrade without choice, not just a rolling bugfix and feature build.

Very upset and thinking of leaving my favourite browser

Ok, tabs sent from desktop to mobile work, perhaps as the google cloud notification service is used

but sending from android to desktop still not working and phone still reports "never" having sync'ed ever... since the new upgrade
