Where can I recover e-mail address's & saved mail.

Thunderbird saves personal information such as messages, passwords and user preferences in a set of files called a "profile". https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data

For the location of the profile also see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

You'll need to recover the Thunderbird profile folder from the troubled drive.

Also saved bookmarks in firefox?

Firefox uses the same concept of a profile as Thunderbird. For any specific questions related to Firefox, please ask in the Firefox support forum.

Re E-mail recovery: followed your suggestions to profile file but addresses were not in a format to allow recovery .

I was able to recover my Firefox bookmarks using this procedure however.

Any further thoughts would be appreciated.

... addresses were not in a format to allow recovery .

I have no idea what that means. You'd need to be way more specific.
