Can't get links in e-mails to open.

When I have an e-mail open in Mozilla Thunderbird any of the links within the e-mail don't open. Even when clicking on the Help -> Help contents tab on the menu bar it doesn't re-direct anywhere. I am able to get the Troubleshooting Information but no web pages can be opened through Thundbird. Please help!

I was able to fix it by making Internet Explorer the default browser.....
