Whenever I try to print any thing, it asks for the file to which to download. I was not getting this question before. I use windows 2000 XP3 or SP3. I am 80 year old and need some help. My printer is Brother HL-2230. It is a laser printer

Sounds that you have print to file selected, possibly accidentally if you can't remember this. You can check that in the Print settings (Ctrl+P).
