So far it's only downloaded 34,000 emails out of 120,0000 aBD AT THIS RATE IT COULD TAKE WEEKS. Is there a faster way to do this - I'm on a so so Internet connection and also have tried tethering to my Mobile data - the speed does not change. I need to have this download complete - pleased help

turn off your anti virus email scanner, it may be slowing the download by as much as 30% on a good day.

Create an exclusion for your Thunderbird profile from on access scanning that prevents every new mail arriving kicking off another scan of the inbox file which takes about 10 minutes per gb.

I would also suggest you right click the account in the folder pane, select settings and in synchronization and storage turn off the option to keep copies of the email on your local device. Then restart Thunderbird. That will cause a full listing of your mail to download and populate the user interface but no mail bodies. once that has occurred, you can turn the option back on and allow the download to complete. That way you will have access to your mail as bodies will download on demand when ou click them and the completion of the process will be much less important.
