After setting up an additional email. It does not tell me how many new emails I have next to my inbox. Why?

I now have 2 email accounts with Mozilla Thunderbird. The main default and the new work one. When I show I have messages on my phone for the work email, after going to it the email on my laptop it is there, but it doesn't tell me I have email by seeing the number of new emails beside the inbox like the other account does.
