Upgraded to v36, then v36.0.1, I still have the same problem. Running SLOW. I tryed the Refresh option and didn't work. All it did was mess up all my Settings which I had to correct. Does anyone know if there's a Newer Version coming out to correct this problem? First it was only on my Laptop, now I have the same problem on both my Laptop and my Desk Top. Please Help! Thank You for your time and assistance.

Can you tell us what is slow? Firefox start up, loading pages, something else?

Have you tried the steps at Quick fixes if your Firefox slows down

Firefox Start Up. It takes about 20-30sec for Firefox to start. Whether starting from the Task Bar or from a link in an E-Mail. Have tried the Refresh Procedure as I stated earlier and didn't make a difference. Cleaned my HD and Defraged it. Started Firefox without Ad-Ons and still have same Start Up Problem. VERY SLOW! Don't know what else to do. It worked fine using v35 but v36 has really slowed the Start Up Down A LOT!

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

hi Rick Hill, other users have reported that this issue was caused and could be resolved by adjusting the settings of their norton software running on affected systems - do you happen to use it as well?: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1048938#answer-696520 https://community.norton.com/en/forums/firefox-extreemly-slow-start
