This is my first time present on this forum. I just decided to switch from an email client I purchased to Mozilla Thunderbird after reading a number of reviews about the program. So far I am elated and impressed I can even change how Thunderbird looks.

Presently, I have 5 different email accounts. I also have purchased a number of different "You've Got Mail" sound files. I would love to be able to setup one of these sound files for each of the 5 email accounts. How do I do this? I would be very pleased if I can get help here. Thank you so much in advance.

Hello again Zenos and again, thank you for your help. I appreciate the links you've provided as well as the explanations regarding use and possible problems using the "Tone Quilla" addon. Not being very computer literate I tend to be afraid to try stuff. I tend to fear that I will mess up what is already working for me. That's because I have usually stumbled onto getting it to work in the first place  : ).

Right now, I have one of my "You've Got Mail" files working for all and any email coming through. Of course as you know, the problem with this solution is, I have to look into each email inbox to see where the latest email is. I am thankful I only have 4 places to look right now.
As it stands now, I don't look to have more places to look than I have presently. Thank you for your honesty as well. I appreciate that. I am going to check out the links you provide now.

Check out the ToneQuilla addon.

Good morning Zenos and thank you for your quick response. Where do I go to find the "ToneQuilla" addon, what is it and how will it permit me to use the "You've Got Mail" files I have already purchased? I am not very computer literate and so would love to have as much guidance as I can get. Thank you again.

You can find it here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/tonequilla/

but I'm a little worried about whether or not it's compatible with current Thunderbird. I don't myself like noisy computers so haven't any great interest in running this add-on for myself. I have run it on a test basis in Thunderbird a few years ago.

Here is my own guide to installing add-ons: http://www.ramsden.org.uk/3_How_to_install_Add-ons_in_Thunderbird.html

I presume the ToneQuilla add-on will help you by providing a few sample clips and all you need do is add yours in with them and then set them up to play, presumably with the help of a suitable Message Filter.

There remains the possible issue raised in a comment on the ToneQuilla home page, where someone found that some of the provided sample files wouldn't play on his Linux system. If any of yours are similarly problematic, I would expect that they could be re-encoded to a suitable format using dBPoweramp, VLC or similar.

Zenos,

Thank you for the mention of "ToneQuilla". I went to the internet and found some info about it. Now, I am trying to find which is the latest version and exactly how to use it with the email sounds (8) I purchased from Grooveloft Media. All were of the "You've Got Mail" type, male/female and seem to work well on an individual basis.
With this new information about "ToneQuilla" I want to intergrate with the email sounds I already have.
