How can a password be copied from saved passwrd and pasted into a web page?

For some reason logons will not automatically enter into a web page. If I enter logon manually the passed will automatically enter. Discovered I can go to saved passwds and copy logon. When I go to web page and hold finger over logon area the copied logon will not enter (paste button does not appear). What am I doing wrong?
