I’m having trouble downloading my emails into Thunderbird from my gmail account. My OS is Windows XP SP3, and the TB version is 38.5.0.

When I start up TB I get a ‘Sign in’ screen for my google a/c, my email address is already written into the text box, so I press ‘next’. Then I enter my password on the google sign in screen. Then a screen saying that Mozilla TB email wants to access my google a/c, I press the ‘allow’ button, then I see my normal TB window with the inbox on the left hand side, then nothing happens, I’ve waited minutes and no emails are downloaded. When I click on the ‘x’ in the top right hand corner to turn off TB. A crash report window appears on my screen.

My server settings are all correct, they are: Server name: imap.gmail.com. Port 993. My user name is the same as my email address. Connection security: SSL/TLS. Authentication method: OAuth2.

Outgoing server settings are: Server Name: smtp.gmail.com. Port 465. My user name is the same as my email address. Connection security SSL/TLS. Authentication method: OAuth2.

Any help would be great.
