I have a Yahoo account. Recently Yahoo (hail the great and mighty warrior) began sending periodic ads, and whenever I click on a message, and ad comes up. Is there any way of inhibiting Yahoo or should I just delete the email account?

Chosen solution

The ads are pop-ups. When the email account is selected, the ads appear at once. When any email is selected, the ads pop-up at once. If the account/email is not selected, then the ads periodically pop-up. This is all to say that this email advertises my annoyance.

Each ad displays my account name and asks for my password. Further, and more annoying, the ads never stop. It is a pop-up in time, so to speak.

The issue is moot. Although I couldn't delete the Yahoo email account, I could remove it from Thunderbird. No account. No ads. What seems to be the solution with Yahoo is to never use Yahoo with Thunderbird, or as an alternative, never use Yahoo at all. Yahoo has become perverse.

Add comes up where? In the body of the email perhaps? I really see no other way.

Those aren't ads, they are the OAuth2 authentication window asking for the account password. Enter the password to complete the authentication, and that will store an oauth:// token in TB Saved Passwords in Options.
