Proton's love of white space and light font weight

This is personal feedback regarding the new Proton look and feel.

Why on earth is the new look trying to allocate so much white space - Menu bar and bookmark lists now scroll forever due to the amount of space between each line.

To make it useable I'm now having to set

     browser.proton.enabled = false
     browser.compactmode.show = true
     Theme set to System Theme

which reduces some of the white space, but not all of it. Spacing is not even consistent as can be seen by the different spacing now used between the bookmark side bar compaired to a bookmark dropdown list.

Please if you wish to provide a touch friendly theme do so, but do not make it the default for all users. I just about live in FireFox with hundreds of bookmarks and at times large numbers of tabs. This environment is accessed across many systems and screens (32" 4K all the way down to 8" 2K), non of which have spare screen space to be allocated to vast amounts of uncontrollable white space.
