I opened up my thunderbird account as usual to send out some emails. Upon opening there was one email stuck in my outbox and it had an error message saying this: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

Then I looked at my menu bar and saw that ALL of my folders had dissappeared including my templates folder. There is only a junk, trash and outbox folder. Everything else completely dissappeared.

How can I fix these issues?

None of those folders sound like gmail. Outbox is in 'Local Folders' account. 'Junk' is only used by Thunderbird not gmail

Is this a pop or imap mail account?

Do you see the gmail mail account in the left folder pane? - it would be useful to provide an image showing the issue.

If you can see the mail account name, please check : 'Menu icon' > 'Folders' > 'All'

Check you have subscribed to see folders. 'Menu icon' > 'File' > 'Subscribe'

please report back on results.

Additional: Please post info: In thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information click on 'copy text to clipboard' button in this forum question, right click in a 'Post a Reply' box and select 'PAste' edit/remove all info on fonts and printers, but nothing else.
