So I linked the .eml extension to my thunderbird portable (v45.2.0) and everything functions just fine... except the thunderbird icon does not show the file association when I browse my archived emails (transferred from thunderbird inbox to a new folder on my hard disk). I am running Win 10 Pro and it worked before but I don't remember when it stopped working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey all,

Something magical happened over the past few hours. Now all my .eml files that reside in folders on my hard drive show the thunderbird icon:

I guess it just took a long time because I had so many archived emails but I'm good-to-go now!
