incoming emails enter inbox position several months old rather than in current position

Instead of emails coming through as 'the latest' (ie at the end) they come through as if they were received in Aug 2015. How can I get them to come through correctly?

Is the date of the incoming emails showing correctly (i.e. today)? Is the 'date' column set to sort the messages with the most recent at the bottom?
