Hi. I used to be able to go into about:config and pull up brower.anchor_color to change the default anchor color in Firefox. The settings still show as "user set", but it is clearly not working. All colors appear as the default colors although about:config says otherwise. I have confirmed this by doing a screen capture and doing a color test in my graphice program. Stumped. I know that you can change the "unvisited" and "visited" links from the Menu> Options> Content but I do not want to use any of the colors that are offered in that pallette and that is why I am utilizing the about:config option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Little more info on what I have done. I have cleared history, cookies, cache, etc... restarted browser as well as started in safe mode and nothing has rectified the problem. Has Firefox stopped allowing / supporting this modification? I have the custom color set at #3b82b8 and the anchor color still appears as default color #0000EE. Also, yes I have checked multiple websites to ensure that it was not the stylesheet of any one particular website. Just trying to provide all the steps that I have already tried.

This should work, but you will only see those colors if the website doesn't set a color via CSS rules.

Does the value of the pref change when you make the change in Tools > Options > Content ?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Also make sure that you aren't using code in the userContent.css file to set such colors.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want. There are several add-ons that will override the site colors with what you select.
