Pull down menus will not open

When I opened Firefox this week all pull down/drop down menus would not open. They flicker but do not pull down. I am unable to open the following "This happened" drop down menu to answer the question. What can I do to fix this? I am also not able to get bookmark to work either from the bookmark window or clicking on the right button.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."
