Dear Sir/Madam

I use your Thunderbird email software which i find very, very good, useful and helpful. But sometimes the software ask me to clean up email, deleting from hard drive deleted emails to get more space. Its ok and good, but in my opinion it should be done more clearly. I'm really afraid of deleting, missing my emails and i don't know what has been done after cleanig. There should be some feedback, text message where i can read what has been done, which emails has beed deleted. I thing it's very important.

Best regards Maciek

You are correct, no information is provided when the process is finished. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/compacting-folders describes what has been done.

Hi Wayne and Maciek (@wsmwk @ezechiel_25_17), I too get the message "offering" to delete completely from hard drive and remote server. It does not seem to be related to the compacting of folders that was referred to in the response. Until now I haven't dared to "Continue", but always "Cancel" the offer. But the message comes back every so often when I bin an e-mail to the Trash folder. It's a bit of a nuisance. And the option in Settings to select automatic deletion of old messages looks like it will delete from all folders, not only from the Trash folder. Will it limit itself to the Trash folder? If so, it would be good to see that in the Settings text. Stay safe! - Urban
