Emails gone from Thunderbird

Yesterday I opened up by email and noticed the last 2 and a half years of emails disappeared from my computer. I am a bit a hoarder with my emails and save them for reference. I use road runner for my server. When I looked on the server the old emails were still there. However, the recent emails the ones I received yesterday 12/1 and today 12/2 were no longer on the server. I checked my settings and I have set to not delete from server. So I have 2 issues 1. Emails disappeared from my local computer storage. 2. Thunderbird appears to be deleting emails from roadrunner server.

Thunderbird doesn't restore all windows after update restart

When Thunderbird prompts me to restart to install an update, it says all tabs and windows will be restored. In actuality, only tabs are restored. Any messages that I have open in separate windows are not reopened. Is the update wording wrong, or is the behavior wrong?

Hi everyone. Thunderbird has (quite unsuccessfully) been updated today. When I opened Thunderbird again, all that was left was the INBOX file and it was empty. I checked the contents and it said "zero files". The SEND, JUNK and DRAFT have been deleted too. When I checked the files on the C drive, the INBOX, SENT, JUNK and DRAFT files had also disappeared. There was only a series of .msf files. Whenever I open Thunderbird, a new .msf file is created for just a few .ko. The mail box is on an IMAP server, and I can still see the messages on my webmail. Strangely enough, I have a second email address also in Thunderbird, but on a MAIL server, and nothing was impacted by the update. On a second computer, the update hasn't deleted the files, and the files in the C drive are still visible, but I can no longer get new messages. The day before, in LOCAL FOLDERS, some messages had become invisible in a specific file, but are supposedly still there, since Thunderbird says they are. What can I do to get all my messages back ? I couldn't find any info about such a major Thunderbird crash. Thanks for your help !

I have updated Thunderbird to v78.5.1 and just added another email account - amazingly easy! However, the only emails displayed for this one are from March 2018 and before and Get Messages doesn't add the later ones. What should I do?

Hello all and thank you in advance for your help. There was an update and the emails vanished. Now, there are choices to "Read messages" "Write a new message" " Search messages" etc.... When I click on read messages, nothing happens. That is what replaced the old inbox, where I was able to see all the emails for the particular account that was selected. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just allowed Thunderbird to update, and now it looks as if I've lost years of work and emails - and *all* of my calendar information.

After Thunderbird updated, I ran it, and realized that I had the following issues:

1) Almost all of the add-ons I rely on daily are no longer compatible.

2) My calendar is virtually EMPTY. I had ALL birthdays, anniversaries, etc in Lightning, and now it's almost completely bare. I "enabled" all of the calendars, and it made no difference. I shut Thunderbird down and started it up again, but when I did, I needed to RE-enable them all again, and it didn't help Only the very few items from my home calendar are there.

3) I decided I had better go back to a previous version, and discovered that it won't let me unless I start a new profile ... I had FIVE email accounts set up in Thunderbird ... I'm not even sure where to go for the information I'd need to be able to do that at this time - and the calendar was where I kept almost all of my information (birthdays, death anniversaries, payment due dates ... etc etc.) ... it's the only place I had most of that information

So - I'm now completely without an email client ... and calendar ... and I can't roll my client back to a friendlier version.

Can someone please tell me what I can do to make this nightmare go away? That program is up literally 100% of the time, and I use it more than anything else on my entire computer. I've been using Thunderbird for many years, and I had an awful lot of stuff in there. It's been pretty much the only way I communicate. I've re-installed the new version, so that I can at least receive/send emails ... I sincerely hope someone can help me out.

I just updated my Thunderbird to Version 78.5.1 (32-bit), and all of a sudden, my sent and Archives folder are missing. The folders are in my profile but do not show up. For interest's sake, I use the POP settings and have been using TB for about 10 years and this is the first time I'm having any kind of problem. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

I have updated to Thunderbird 78.5.1, prior to upgrade I had Gmail in Thunderbird with no problem, since the upgrade, I can no longer connect via IMAP. I have deleted my account and tried to rebuild but I don't receive the OATH2 popup to be able to log into my account. I deleted the global message db thinking it might be an Indexing problem. It didn't resolve my issue. Error log is showing the following: (imap://<username>@imap.gmail.com:993/select%3E%5EINBOX) [(null) 33176: IMAP]: I/IMAP 000001C35CC4E000:imap.gmail.com:NA:TellThreadToDie: close socket connection [(null) 33176: IMAP]: I/IMAP 000001C35CC4E000:imap.gmail.com:NA:CreateNewLineFromSocket: (null) [(null) 33176: IMAP]: D/IMAP SetConnectionStatus(0x805a1ff6) [(null) 33176: IMAP]: D/IMAP URL failed with code 0x805a1ff6

Any help would be appreciated, other Accounts in Thunderbird are working as expected including Hotmail and Yahoo. Thank you

On Thunderbird 68 (v68.12.0) it looks nice, but on Thunderbird 78 (v78.3.1) it looks bad: Picture (You must watch the pic at 100% size, the main problem is the blurred font of the mail body.)

I really hate ClearType, so I try to avoid it anywhere if possible.

Do you have a solution for this? Is there an other setting I must change? Or can you fix Thunderbird 78 to properly use the settings above as Thunderbird 68 did?

I am trying to view settings, T'bird version 78.5.1. Whenever I click either server setting, it goes BEEP and displays message, "An account with this name already exists. Please enter a different account name." Do NOT want to make new account, want to view server settings for incoming and outgoing servers. What am I doing wrong??

I've setup my company gmail email in thunderbird and setup an alias with the manage identities option. I can send emails as the alias no problem and they are received as if they were from the alias no problem. HOWEVER the emails are signed by the primary domain. This does not happen when sending the emails directly in gmail; when sending in gmail the messages arrive signed by the alias domain. How can I make the alias emails sent through thunderbird be signed by the alias domain?

Hi,

because the attachment extractor addon does not work anymore in version 78 and one must detach attachment manually per each message, is there some shortcut for Detach (Detach all) attachments from the message.

Working in Thunderbird has become very annoying and complicated since version 78 (when almost all useful addons are not more supported), so at least when doing annoying and complicated manual detaching of attachments in each message, it will be great to have a shortcut for this.

other than 1. save addrss 2. go to address book 3. add addrss to list and repeat and repeat and repeat

, i can't figure it out

and, if i 1. save address and repeat and repeat and repeat

and THEN go to teh address book, the problem is knowing WHO was in that original email
