As of 3 days ago, my website won't load on Firefox. I have the latest version installed and thought it was a Weebly issue, since theirs is the only site I'm having problems with, but they are saying no, it's Firefox. I've had repeated issues with Weebly in the past that they have failed to address, so I'm leaning toward it being on their side, but I would like to confirm whether or not it's on your end first before I got back to them.

Hi Not_that_girl,

I did some testing in Firefox beta, version 54 (this is coming to release next tues) and I did not have too much trouble. Though you may be experiencing something more specific?

My next recommendation would be to file a webcompat issue from the Firefox Browser. (It is the icon that looks like a lightbulb in the menu or it is in this add on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/webcompatcom-reporter/?src=search)

Best to just file one directly here: https://github.com/webcompat/web-bugs/issues/new

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache":

  • Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content. There is security software that can interfere with loading content, so check that as well.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
