I tried importing a contact (Outlook) list via the import system but the list did not contain email address to move up and down. I am now trying to import via a sent email (dat file) but cannot do this either as it doesn't offer the file type. Any suggestions would be great.

Import imports comma separated values and LDIF files

Hi Matt, Yes I tried that but when you import you have to align the chosen field with their match- There is no email on the right to match and nowhere to enter it on the list so it imported names and nothing else.

So that would seem to indicate that whatever process you're using to export the data isn't including the email address.

Matt has pointed you towards CSV and LDIF. Both can be inspected in a text editor to check what has been exported into them. I don't know what a dat file is and I don't think that Thunderbird knows either. Maybe you can open it in a text editor, or paste it into a spreadsheet, and massage it into CSV format.
