when I am posting replies to friends in Facebook timeline, I would click the "picture" icon to insert an image file in my reply ... I have a lot of memes and pictures (5000+)... the "search" in the upper right hand corner does not allow me to search anything about 99% of the time ... I click into it but the cursor never appears ... stays in the lower filename below ... I can scroll through the entire list if I happen to know the image file name and grab it to insert it ... just the search doesn't work - very frustrating .... I thought it was facebook privacy settings per person I was replying to, but then I finally opened up Windows Edge browser and now it works all the time in that browser. I made sure "search" service is turned ON in my Windows 10 environment ... appears to be a problem mainly in Firefox (latest version) and Internet Explorer 11 ... now I know Edge works but I like Firefox better. I don't have many addons - I do have adblock for firefox but it does not make any difference in this area.

I recently noticed that attaching images on this forum. It seems to be a bug with File Explorer in the latest Windows 10 update. So far, the only known "fix" is to reboot Windows and hope it doesn't occur again soon. At least, that's what I got from this long thread:

If you're looking for a partial file name match in the same folder, you can use the old school method: put your text string into the file name space with asterisks on both sides, for example:

*bookmark*

and then press Enter to apply the filter to the list. Pain in the...

I'm surprised Edge works. I wonder whether they call the "File Open" dialog with slightly different options?

appears that the problem is in Microsoft Windows, not Firefox ... even stops working in Edge after a while ... very frustrating ... good link though and I am glad that others have put in cases to Windows Support to address this issue. Hopefully we get a fix from Microsoft soon.

I'll mark this case "solved" per Firefox standards while it is not solved yet in Microsoft Windows. Appreciate the feedback.

I am using the *text string* in the file name space as I never knew that was possible as a workaround for now. Thank you for that tip.
