How can I show a specified page in a PDF (#page=7) ? Firefox can't Gogle Crome can
With my homepage I want to display page 7 of a PDF document. Internet told me to write <A href="http://www.myhomepage/pdffilename.pdf#page=7">page 7</a>on screen. This works with Google Crome, but Firefox just shows page 1. Can that be helped??
Also I am sad that Firefox can't show a PDF-file itself but uses Acrobat reader to show it. Most of my readers can't download plug-ins. It's too complex for them.

I wish I knew what causes the problem. If you look at the address bar after following the link, does it still have #page=79 on the end?

Earlier you mentioned being forced to use Adobe Reader. If the PDF isn't opening in Firefox's built-in viewer, please see this article:
View PDF files in Firefox or choose another viewer
If the setting isn't followed, sometimes it helps to change the setting to Save File and then reload the Options page (Ctrl+r) and change it back to Preview in Firefox.

We can’t connect to the server at www.myhomepage.com.
If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:
Try again later. Check your network connection. If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

Chrome says this:
This site can’t be reached The webpage at http://www.myhomepage.com/pdffilename.pdf#page=7 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Search Google for my homepage pdf filename ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED

Firefox is capable of displaying PDF files. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox With a new installation of Firefox the user doesn't have to do anything, Firefox will automatically use the built-in PDF reader add-on. But once a user "tells Firefox" via preferences to use Adobe, that will be used. Adobe Reader Plugin hasn't worked in Firefox for a few years now, so you complaint about that is no longer valid.
But being able to load a specific page in a PDF file just isn't possible via a a href command in Firefox; that type of command doesn't get passed thru the built-in add-on for viewing PDF files inside of Firefox.
Okay. My homepage link is actually like this:

Google Crome shows page 79 perfectly, but Firefox just shows page 1. This is a pity, since my senior readers mostly use a Firefox without extensions.
Did your answer mean that it is impossible to make Firefox show specific page in a PDF file by programming html? Or what?

Hmm, that link worked for me (right-click > Open Link in a New Private Window). I'm attaching a screenshot from Firefox 64 (on Windows 7).
My Firefox is a Firefox Quantum 64.0 (64 bit) Danish version. My laptop runs Windows 10.
Even if I now used ' (right-click > Open Link in a New Private Window)' it still shows page 1 instead of 79.
Could there be a bug in the danish version? Or an inconsistency with Windows 10?
