My toolbars won't autohide. I can't get ride of that strip of stuff, which is especially distracting when working in Google Docs, StackEdit, or reading long articles,

I have checked "hide tooldbars", ensured the setting is correct in config, started in safe mode, refreshed my firefox, and disabled hardware acceleration. None of these has improved the situation.

The exception to this is in YouTube, Netflix, etc, when activating their full screens.

Thanks for any help!

That is a known issue on Mac about how Full Screen mode works. The extension that could be used as a workaround isn't a WebExtension and can no longer be used. I'm not aware of an easy way to achieve this.
