I am using the latest version of Firefox (auto update) and the latest version of Windows 7. Firefox will lock up so hard that I have to use cnt/alt/del and Task Manager to unlock Firefox, and I commonly have to shut down, wait 30 seconds, fire up again, select Firefox and go back to browsing. Total elapse time from lock up to browsing again takes not less than 15 minutes and commonly over 1/2 hour.

What were you doing when the problem occurs? What is on the pages that lockup? clips, audio, plain text . . . . . . . .

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thanks, the "computer" I am using at this time is an IPad and I have no trouble with it. My regular desk top seems to get into a security problem which locks it up. My proposed solution is to scrap my current security/computor "helps" program and try PCMatic. Any advice?
