I hate Etsy. I do not want to see Etsy or any references to Etsy in my search results. How do I do that?

more options

Every time I search for product I get flooded with images and links to Etsy, either direct or through other pages. I tried to edit source page, could not. I tried number of add-ons and filters, spent half a day on this, but nothing works. Etsy or references to it keep popping up. My search results are pile of junk! Please help, going nuts!

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove Etsy Anything. Now do the same in the computers Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

That's a little strange, unless you are searching for a lot of "hand made" kinds of things where Etsy results would be especially relevant.

To see whether this is caused by customized search results, based on what search engines think they know about you, do you want to test in a private window? You can launch a private window using Ctrl+Shift+p or the menu. Then use your preferred search site(s) without logging in. Any difference?

(Note: if you have already logged into a search site in a different private window, that test won't work. You would need to log out, close all private windows first, then launch a new private window for the test.)

I don't know whether this will help, but a while back I created a user script to hide sites you never plan to visit from your search results. This is different than hiding all sites that mention a term, it focuses on the site address. More info here: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/gm/google-hit-hider/

Hi,

My tracking protection is on. I got your script and it works. Still get some junk in images. Test search for "bee jewelry". How do I block image search results?

Thanks

If you are using Google, when you click an image to display the large black box, there is a GHHbD button on the right side. I haven't scripted image blocking for other sites yet.

Uh-oh, Google changed it. I need to update the script.

Okay, version 1.7.8 should fix the problem with the GHHbD button not listing the domain properly. I was only able to post the update here: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/1682-google-hit-hider-by-domain-search-filter-block-sites

jscher2000 thank you! We are almost done:) How about "shop on google". Is there anything that could be done to remove all Etsy results from 'shop on google'?

Unfortunately, Shopping results are generated through a paid advertising program and the links are coded in a way that I don't understand. For example:

https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjQsOaYxuLPAhWGCJEKHVFOB64YABAB&sig=AOD64_1BzrhOOzxQUm-z5AyW07zbAgzzYg&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwje39-YxuLPAhXC7R4KHUXWBh8Q1CkItgMwAA&adurl=

If someone figures out how to tell that goes to

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/201224120579?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

then maybe the script could be updated to handle it.
