I want a clean home page, just the search box, no annoying messages under it: I left Google because of the annoying Doodles.
Is there a way to prevent the text that appears under the search box when I open to the Firefox homepage? If not, since I've already fled Google because of the Doodles and may have to flee Firefox because of unwanted, in-my-face messages, is there a Browser out there that is clean (i.e. just search box and navigation tools) that I can turn to? Thank you.

Nothing to pay for, just install Stylish and then install that UserStyle to hide the 'stuff' on the default homepage that Mozilla adds and changes from time to time.
Or as Happy suggested just set your own choice for your homepage.

Hi !
Would you take a look at this article and see if you can find what you're looking for:
'How to set the home page' http://mzl.la/1BAQNzv
If not, we'll have to try and find something else .....
It looks like it could, but does it seems to mean I have to subscribe to (i.e. pay someone!) to keep doodles off my home page...?

I think that worked - we'll see if the Doodle or other stuff comes back. Thank you very much!
