How can I download and use and older version of Firefox, one that doesn't keep removing my add-ons - or should I just quite using Firefox after 10+ years?
I use Lastpass, the most secure and convenient password manager and one which is definitely not malicious. I appreciate that Mozilla wants to help me and others remain more secure on the web. However Lastpass isn't going to get an older version of its software signed just for me and perhaps a few others.
I also feel that I should have some say in how the software on my computer behaves and not have some committee decide for me what is best for me. Nor should I be forced to spend money on new computers and software just because a perfectly safe and valuable add-on isn't signed.
I gather that Firefox 46 will no longer allow unsigned add-ons.
So how can I run an older version of Firefox and prevent Firefox from updating?
Alternately should I just quit using Firefox? Firefox has been a great browser which I've enjoyed using for over 10 years and I'd be sorry to have to quite using it, anyway to work around this?

Could you tell me what version of LastPass is not working on your Firefox? When I "test install" version 3.3.1 from the Mozilla Add-ons site -- the one listed in your Question Details > More System Details -- the extension is signed and can be enabled. What version are you trying to use and from where?
Also, no need to panic, there will be a version of Firefox 45 available for the next several months if you switch to the "Extended Support Release" version. This is intended for business customers who need a longer cycle between updates for testing purposes. I do not think you need to rush and install that now, but for future reference, you can download from this page:

It's probably a good idea to make a backup of your Firefox data before switching, just in case something goes wrong. See: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles
Thanks for the reply & help jscher2000, I am using Lastpass 3.2.42 which is the most current version shown here https://lastpass.com/releases/?a=1
If 3.3.1 is signed and works with 10.6.8 I'll happily use it, can you give me the link to where you found it?
Otherwise I'll use what you suggest and switch to the Extended Support Release version of Firefox.
