Hi. I recently did clean install of Firefox with help of Revo Uninstaller but one of my previously saved logins (Hushmail) is still saved in the new install.

Is there a way to remove it?

Firefox can save form data two ways:

For logins consisting of a username and a password:

You can view and remove here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

In the left column click Security, and on the right side click the "Saved Passwords" button

For individual form elements:

Firefox saves form history and may display a drop-down list of matches as you type. To remove one of those, you can use the keyboard: arrow down to select the match and press the Delete key.

Firefox doesn't have a viewer/editor for saved form history entries, but you can use this extension for that: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/form-history-control/

Was it one of those?

Thanks for reply.

In the past I've tried several times every so often to permanently delete this particular unwanted saved Hushmail login via Tools > Options > Security > Saved Logins > Remove, but it's never worked (it's weird - it doesn't show as a saved login when you search for saved 'Hushmail' logins In Firefox, but it's always the email address in the box next to the 'Sign in' button on the Hushmail log in page).

So when logging in to Hushmail I just learned to live with having to delete old email address and typing new address each time.

But it'd be nice not to have to, and I thought clean Firefox install would've fixed issue(?)

Thoroughly removing your Firefox data definitely should have cleared saved passwords and form history. But if the manual removal methods do not work either, I'm not sure where the old address is coming from.

Do you use any password or form-related add-ons that could be inserting it?

One other possibility is that the site is setting a cookie with that information for your convenience. You could try clearing the site's cookies after you log out the next time and then go back to the page and see whether the email address appears.

If you want to try that, while viewing a page on the site, use either:

  • right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the site address should be filled automatically at the top. Here you can remove the site's cookies individually without affecting other sites.

Remove History For One Site Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

No, the only add-ons I use are uBlock Origin, NoScript, HTTPS-Everywhere, Disconnect and Disable WebRTC.

I cleared cookies as you suggested but it's still there.

Thanks for reply. I did as you suggested but it's still there. Guess I'll just have to continue to live with it.

Does the URL you're using contain any identifying information? For example, https://www.hushmail.com/ doesn't pass any information, but some URLs may contain codes that identify you to the site.

Ha! As Firefox occasionally says, well this is embarrassing. I'm a bookmark fiend and never really pay much attention to URL bar. For over a year I've signed in to Hushmail via saved bookmark button on Bookmarks Toolbar, but prompted by your reply I noticed that the bookmarked URL did indeed contain identifying info. I've now replaced it with non-identifying "hushmail.com".

Thanks for your help/patience!
