Plugins only offer Ask to Activate Flash 20.0.0.267. However, Mozilla plugin check says up to date 20.0.0.306. Sill after reboot, no option always activate Why?

more options

Windows 7 64 bit. Firefox 44.0.2 IE 11.0.28 32 bit

Flash had been updated in Firefox, but still showed 20.0.0.267 in both about:addons and https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ Updated flash for IE and rebooted.

Mozilla Plugin check now shows flash 20.0.0.306, but about:addons still restricts flash to Ask to Activate. Clicking more on this page, gives a warning that Shockwave flash is known to be vulnerable and should be updated. It also shows two dll NPSWF32_20_0_0_267.dll and NPSWF32_20_0_0_306 dll Is this normal?

Clicking on Update now next to the above referenced warning; transfers to a page indicating a range of versions of flash have been blocked for my protection. The current version 306 does not fall within the blocked range; never-the-less I am unable to fully activate flash because about:addons seems to think I have version 267 which does fall in the range.

Adobe shows the most current version of flash installed for both IE and Firefox at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ Only Firefox asks to activate (IE seems to work correctly). Since Firefox can't decide which version I have, I have to think this is a Firefox problem. Yet I seem to have the most current version of Firefox as well?!?!?!

Screen prints seem to be too big to load and a PDF is not a valid file type, so I can't seem to provide pictures.

Chosen solution

Previous Flash Player versions can still be on system if Firefox is still running and using Flash when new version is installed.

https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html make sure Firefox is closed when you uninstall Flash.

Then download Flash Player 20.0.0.306 from https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html and close Firefox and then install Flash Player.

Thank You! The solution was intimidating, but worked great. I did not follow the instructions to the letter. Only differences: 1) I "hid" (moved/renamed) the files/folders from the uninstall instructions step 3. While I never needed to "find" them again, it just felt safer. 2) Based on the warning from the download link, "This page and the download links will be decommissioned on March 1st, 2016."

I actually clicked over and downloaded from

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ 3) Don't know if it was necessary, but I kept both Firefox and IE closed during the install of flash for both Firefox and IE. 4) I did not understand nor do anything with

   AutoUpdateDisable=0
   SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0

The uninstall really did not take as long as I feared and wasn't hard. Thank you again!

It is safe to download from https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html up til March 1st. It also only comes with just Flash Player as you have to be careful when downloading from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ as it can install say mcafee if not careful

I see. I did have to be careful to avoid extra unwanted installs. Thanks again.
