Hello,

I am having the worst time with Firefox, worst than any other organisation in 17 years, when I became a professional.

Every site, without exception, when I open it with Firefox I get messages such as 'do not enter this site is untrustworthy' or 'Danger this site is infected' and as another example 'Get me out of here'. There are more danger signal worded similarly, but obviously mean the same.

I am told through all the research I have done, it is a programing fault within Firefox, and the fault is set off by a range of small issues.

One that list was include if the time and date on the PC were not exactly right, the badly written software would invade. I was changing my clock from 24 hour to 12 hour, the fault struck at the next boot.

I have run out of methods to fix it, I have three techs in, costing me slightly under $1,000.00. I have another coming this morning.

The fault forces you to do away with ALL authentication certificates from any incoming mail, updates, advertising and so on. Of great concern is it appears my system is open to all sorts of Viruses, Malware, Trojans, downloading of my private data. There are all sorts of messages which come up after almost each key stroke. I am completely exposed for your diabolical mistake.

I am self employed in the investment business which requires constant awareness of where markets are going. Firefox, so far has cost me about $30.000.00! in the past two weeks.

I have never known a company of any sort to 'provided' the absolutely disgusting support/help. It is grade one standard.

This problem distorts all text while behind the site, such as help. All I ever got was referred to the Help/Support page, but what you supposed experts did not realise this problem affected Firefox itself. So on your say so I had another look at the help/ support page which was a jumbled mess, it was impossible to gather any help. This is also the same for every other site. I rang Corporate HQ three times to talk to a human. No luck, it wanted me to nominate the person I wanted to talk too, or an extension number. This call had me wait for 35 minutes, at my own expense, then the robot came on the line, and amongst other options it said "do you need Help Or Support? I thought I would be put through to Help/Support in the US. I pressed the button I was told too, and I ended up at the corrupt Australian Help line which i have told you was not readable. The text behind the program was at the very left on the page, in orange, and not able to be read.

Your Corporation does not give any phone numbers out at all. I planned to ring NZ, but no phone number. On the web this is widely reported, and while questions about this fault you do everything in your power to avoid answering. I saw one response for Firefox which said "these sort of this happen all the time, don't worry about it". I am absolutely livid, angry, disappointed, and I feel a victim of a Scam One of the worst my world leading virus programs.

They would be delighted to be witnesses.

A Company like yours should be available for those of us who are in real trouble. I have to say Mozilla Firefox could not care less about the most important thing in business - CUSTOMERS!!!!!! As said I have not been able to work, I thought changing browsers would solve it. The problem is now that every other browser!!

You have put me in a position that I have lost 2 weeks wages, three customers because I could not finish their projects, damaged my personal reputation, and caused my family huge upset and anxiety. I realise Commercial business does not always roll your way. But this is a completely different animal. You dance and sing about how good Mozilla Firefox are. Inherently this means that the product you advocate will do what you claim. Consulting with my Attorneys, this law, 'deliver what you say you will' has been massively compromised. You are breaking the Law, written as a basic treaty in most every country. Especially in the USA.

Mozilla Firefox has until Monday February 2016 to respond and remedy the problem. If Mozilla Firefox fail to respond, we will turn to Litigation of a type that your Company will be reeling from. I have a Computer club of about 40 members, and we meet every two or three weeks, talking about all subject related to PC's. We meet next on 18 February. Those I have spoken with cannot believe Mozilla Firefox, previously with a great product.

I can guarantee that all our members will drop Firefox as the preferred browser, which 90% use, to Chrome, which I have done. I am angry because once used to it Chrome is easily the better Browser.

For those members of our PC group, when they all hear the full storey, you will have lost a loyal Customer(s).

Although I don't use Social Media more than I have too, about 35 to 40 members are addicted. I will tell them the complete truth, and if they decide to flood the Social Media with the fault which Mozilla Firefox have, that is their decision. There is the old saying if you tell ten people, they will tell another ten, and they will tell another ten and the momentum does not stop until the organisation talks and tells the truth. Some how after finding out such a lot about Mozilla Firefox, your people don't care. You will care when an international sanctioned Summons is served. I will certainly get my money back, plus I will be certainly be asking for massive damages, from lost income, lost Customers, and my frightened Family. Every day he bill gets higher.

This is not an outcome I want to see, Courts are full as it is, but if it comes to it, you will never have faced the ferocity, aggression, and unrelenting pressure you will experience.

Avoid Court and Litigation and our precious time by admitting you have the problem, and get every programmer and Tech. you have to fix this.

I have been a customer for many, many years.

Now I am a 100% Chrome Customer, which is excellent.

Have the courage to respond. If you do not it just increase our case and pay out.

Yours Sincerely,

What is your computer system and Firefox?

There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

Hi

I have edited your question to remove personal information to protect your privacy.

Sorry you are having problems with Firefox and find our support unhelpful. I will try to do what I can to help you.

We do not provide any telephone support. (That ended some years back) Including telephone numbers or email addresses on this forum only attracts spam. If you are using the default settings you will have emails sent to the address you registered with, by the forum sortware.

Firstly please note. This is a community based support forum. I and nearly all the others here are volunteers giving our time freely to support the free and open source software Firefox provided by Mozilla.

My Personal opinion only:

  • I do not think threatening litigation is going to solve your problem. It is more likely to dissuade contributors to help you for fear of such litigation.
  • Also this is clearly the wrong place to discuss this matter.
    • Although I am not certain what your best contact would be I will endeavour to find out and draw this post to the Attention of Mozilla staff They are 'Human' :-) but may take up to a week to respond if they are busy.

Meanwhile maybe you will find some of this information of assistance

Your Support Issues

System Time Yes having system clocks set to wrong times and date is likely to generate security warnings.

Any further SUPPORT questions ?

  • Please start a separate question for each issue using /questions/new/firefox
  • Please try to
    • Post from a machine with the issue.
    • Provide the troubleshooting information requested
    • Include ink back to this question /questions/1108057 <- paste that
    • Answer the questions asked by Fred (Higher up in this current thread)

Corporate / Enterprise use of Firefox (ESR) You would probably be better using Firefox ESR and making use of their specialised mailing list.

This question will be closed shortly, but I will make sure it is open for long enough for you or any Mozilla staff member to have a chance to respond to the posts in the thread.

P.S. I corrected a link in my last post. And omitted to link to the ESR info. Will add that later no time now.

Can you attach a screenshot to shows these issues??

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Thank you for your reply, I can't tell how grateful I am. My Family are all out today, so this is 'get it fixed Day' I get very frustrated by these problems, probably because I've been around Computers for maybe 25 Years, but I just can't pick up on the 'nitty Gitty' Like you can. I only use my PC for work, and I never seem to have time to learn. I try to pick up what the Techs do but they are way too fast, and seem to have a lot of secret CD's and USB's. Again thank you so very much, I'll let you know how I get on. Christopher Mannix

John99 I emailed you back when you originally made some suggestions. Again my apologies for being angry, but I am in a very difficult position work wise. I just wish I knew more about Computers as you obviously do. Again my apologies. A good nights sleep and a couple of glasses of nice wine have brought me back to earth. Thanks once more. Chris

Hi Christopher.

It is unlikely staff will get involved with this issue, and you probably are not now considering litigation.

As it stands we have no idea what your computer experts have done or whether they have solved your issues. We can attempt to help you but we do need much more detail.

I will leave this thread open as you are replying and people are trying to help you here.

It probably would be easier to help you if you post from one of the problem computers and start a new question about a specific unsolved problem. The forum software helps you provide us with system information related to Firefox. If you do post a related additional question mention that in this thread.

If you get warnings and problems on specific sites, please try to give us an example with relevant links. Try to give an example from some public website where you see issues without needing to sign in. That will allow us to try to check and compare what we see.

Of course if you are having success with Google Chrome you could just stick with that.

As for my suggestion to use Firefox ESR that was based on my presumption that you were a business with multiple computers and probably your own IT support people.

You may well be following this by just looking at your emails. Please note this is all displayed in a public support forum. The link is https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1108057

Hi again John99, did you get 99 from Get Smart TV show? I am overwhelmed with options and am very grateful. I have the house/office to myself today so I'll be giving it the good old College try. As I have explained to virtually all who responded, I have been using PC's for 20 or more years. Yet while I can do the relatively moderate Tech stuff, I just don't seem to be able to grasp the knowledge that you guys have. And after all that time I get angry at myself because I should know more. I have never tried a screen shot, but I have 3 Windows 7 books next to me, the Multi purpose printer instructions, and my ever reliable son at the end of the phone. He is my last point of call - He always tells me that for a person my age and experience on the PC I should be ashamed. But as I said to him I've been driving cars for nearly forty years, and I know less about cars than I do PC's. John99 is there a particular address I should send the picture to, or just to this forum? Thank you once again,

Chris.

Don't feel bad. I was just out of programming school. I got a job where they were installing a new monitoring system at a sewage plant. The guy doing the install was having a problem with one of the programs. I got a copy of the program and went thru it. After a time, I discovered the problem.

The guy installing the computer had been in the business for 20 years. I just got out of school, so you can guess how that went. I finally got him to edit the program. And it worked.

Hi FredMcD,

Thank you for your message, I have always thought you can only really learn by doing it or watch somebody do it. I have books by the tonne but it is a tedious long way to learn. Yours was a great story. But as for my learning ability, I was on the phone for nearly an hour with Microsoft; Internet Explorer was acting up. The only good news from that session was that the Microsoft Tech had problems too!

With the help all you generous people have offered me, for which I am over whelmed, I will get it done - with a bit of trial and error perhaps.

Thank you for your note, it is things like that which makes you realise the World does have some good people left.

Thanks again,

Chris.

Hi Chris, These article ought to help you figure out the screen shot. Windows 7 has a snipping tool that easily generates suitable shots and by default uses .png files that the forum likes.

The box under where you type replies allows you to add images to the post. The browse option enables you to search your computer for the image.

We are also going to need details of the site you see the problem on.

The 99 just happens to be a number that is sometimes available when trying to use the name John to register on Fora.

I will undo that as I agree it seems unlikely to have been deliberately & correctly chosen. J99
