I can't add new bookmarks

I've been unable to add new bookmarks for a while now - either by click the star next the bookmarks icon in the toolbar (the blue star flying into the toolbar animation happens, however the star remains empty) or from the menu from right clicking a tab. I can add/edit bookmarks if I go into the bookmarks manager.

I know this issue has been raised before, however none of the answers posted (that I've found at least) have helped.

I have tried the places.sqlite solution. It did not help.

I have tried the places maintenance addon. It did not help.

thank you

Chosen solution

Most likely this is caused by the IE Tab + extension. Try disabling or removing in on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then you can find IE Tab + on the right side.

Often a link will appear above a disabled/removed extension to restart Firefox for the change to take effect. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that resolve the issue?

Note: I don't know whether any IE Tab extensions will be updated to resolve this issue that they all seem to cause in Firefox 40. If you need to load some sites in IE, you can use the following extension instead -- it sends the URL to IE to load: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-in-ie/

Wow, that was quick. I had been going through my addons to see if one of them was the culprit, but had not even reached that one.

Yup, it was IE Tab +

Thanks very much!
