Hi, try this: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to browser.newtab.url and make sure 'Value' is set to about:home - if you want the Firefox start page, or you can enter google.com etc., if that is what you prefer. If it also shows about:preferences, delete it, because that is the Firefox Options address. (right click > Modify, to make changes if necessary, taking care not to alter anything else). You may then need to restart Firefox.

I tried that. Here's what happens. When I click on the + sign to start a new tab, the tab opens with "Address isn't valid". If I click on the home sign in the menu bar, it takes me to Google and opens another tab with my browser options displayed.

First, could you check your home page setting? Since Firefox supports multiple tabs for the home page (separated by a | character), sometimes pages are added by accident.

Second, regarding the new tab page, does the invalid address show in the address bar?

Before trying the immediately preceding suggestion, I "refreshed" my version of Firefox. This solved the problem. Thanks for the support!

Hi Caymanfan, the Refresh should have moved your old settings folder to your desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder. I suggest hanging on to that for a couple weeks in case you notice anything critical missing.
