Pocket is a "save for later" service and not a downloader.

Could you check your extension list to see what downloader(s) you have? You also can use the "gear" button above the list to check for updates in case it needs an update. You would access that on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

What method are you using to save the video? You often need to use an add-on and each one works a bit differently.

Previously there was an icon between the favorites and the download arrow which would allow me to download videos from the web to my Downloads folder. This has been replaced by a Pocket icon. The pocket icon saves the video to the cloud, but I can find no way to save it to my machine. How can I get the earlier process back? I don't find it in the add-ons.

I should ask: do you have an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop? Some users see a prompt during an update that Firefox is starting slowly and you can improve performance by restoring some default settings. If you click that, Firefox performs a Refresh and removes your add-ons. Your entire old settings (profile) folder ends up on the desktop inside Old Firefox Data. Do you see anything like that?

Got things going again. Thanks
