Another option is to save webpages in MHT format.

What kinds of problems do you notice when using Firefox's Save Page As feature? In case the dialog is not set to "Web page, complete", make sure to change the "Save as type" before saving.

Even then, many sites now use scripts to modify the pages and these might not work the same locally (due to security restrictions or other reasons). Some sites (such as Facebook) also include redirects that may make copies of pages hard to view. And of course it may be impossible to save streaming media this way.

My general workaround is to capture pages as PDFs so I know right away if it's what I want, but your needs may be different than mine.
