Whenever I try to bookmark a page, it gets listed as the page that I hit "bookmark" on but really links to a random page from my history and won't change.

Another possibility is that the Places database, which stores both history and bookmarks, has become corrupted. I have seen the following extension recommended as a way to fix it up, but I'm not sure how it works (or whether it runs on Mac):

i take a guess this may happen because of some malicious piece of software.not a bug of firefox..so i suggest you may backup your firefox data(bookmarks etc..) and clean your system with good anti malware software..if it doesnt solve,then you may have to uninstall firefox->clean system again->remove any search toolbars and stuff like that->do clean install of latest stable version of firefox..
