Not sure what happened. Yesterday the news scroll worked. This morning it doesn't work. There is no automatic scroll and when you use the left or right arrows on the screen to advance the scroll, the small boxes are empty. There was a windows update this morning but not sure what they were and no idea why it would cause this one thing to stop working.

Also the mail icon in upper right of yahoo homepage no longer shows when I have new mail.

edit: okay just tried something I hadn't thought of earlier and disabled my adblock plus on yahoo homepage and this resolves both above issues. I don't want to have to disable adblock however. So now I am not sure if this is a problem with yahoo, adblock or firefox. Trying to get a response from yahoo will be futile, same with adblock. Hoping someone can let me know if there is a solution other than disabling adblock or will firefox be able to fix this problem somehow (even if it isn't directly a firefox problem).

If there is something being blocked in the webpage, is it possible to change the settings in the Ad blocker?

I don't think it is adblock that is the problem. Adblock is functioning properly on all other pages, and in fact functions properly on the yahoo main page. But in doing it's job on the yahoo page, the news scroll and mail alert cease to function.

So I am thinking the problem is probably with the yahoo page and how they place the ads on the page? or something similar?

To be honest, if it wasn't that I have had this email address for so long and that everyone I know uses that email, I would probably completely abandon yahoo and use BING as my homepage. At this point I just have adblock on and randomly check my email during the day.

Open the web page. Mouse to the AdBlock icon and press the arrow. From the list, select Disable On website.

yes, as mentioned in my original post, I have done that. Doing that resolves the problem of the news scroll and the mail alert, but that doesn't really solve the problem, since adblock doesn't function on the page then.
