E-mails I send come into my Inbox as well
When I send a mail to a person, they receive it but it is also send to my own inbox. What settings do I need to change? Thanks John

Also, you could first try installing an alternate email client and see if you observe the same behaviour. If not, that would narrow it down to some local configuration issue with your Thunderbird installation.
Also, ensure that if you have any filters enabled either in Thunderbird or Gmail, disable those as well and see if it makes a difference.

Usually, copies of Emails you send are saved in the 'Sent' folder. This is set up here: 'Tools' > 'Account Settings' > 'Copies & Folders' for the mail account. or Right click on account name in folder Pane and select 'Settings' then select 'Copies & Folders' for the mail account.
when sending messages, automatically:
Select 'place a copy in:' If Pop mail account using own folders:
- Select : 'Sent' folder on and pop mail account
If Pop mail account using Global Inbox(Local Folders):
- Select : 'Sent' folder on and Local Folders.
If IMAP mail account:
- Select : 'Other' and then choose the Sent folder on imap mail account.
- Note: that sometimes the 'Sent' folder on server may be called something similar eg: 'Sent Items'
Click on OK.
Note
if you are using a gmail IMAP account then Sent messages are auto put in the Sent folder, so do not select 'Place a copy in'.
see more info specifically on this at this link - click on the Thunderbird option
You can also specify that if you reply to an email, you want the copy of sent message to appear in same folder as the original. If you want this option it is located in the same place 'Copies & Folders' for the mail account. Select the check box 'Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to'.

Thanks But I use those setting already. John
If you are using a Gmail account, also make sure you've unticked the "All Mail" label from appearing in an IMAP client like Thunderbird. You can expect to see every email message duplicated if you've not performed this step.

I am using Gmail and Thunderbird yes, can you explain where I untick the 'all mail' please?
Check here, and let us know if it resolves the issue:

As far as I can see is that my settings are like that but it still sends me the email i send before
I have tried all combinations I can come up with and it does not work. How can I keep my address book and ALL other folders when I uninstall Thunderbird and then reinstall it?
Are you using IMAP to connect to your Gmail account with Thunderbird?
Cheers, Dave
Yes I do and here are the current settings, after i tried a lot of others.
Your settings for retaining copies of sent messages are unusual. Is there any particular reason you are copying sent mail to your local sent email folder (i.e. not the Gmail Sent Mail folder), and, why you have the "Place replies in folder of message being replied to" setting enabled?
If you are using Gmail's SMTP server in Thunderbird (which generally you will be), sent items are copied automatically to Gmail's Sent Mail folder, so you would usually keep the "Place a copy in" setting for sent mail items unticked. This is detailed in the blog post I linked above. By enabling this you've now got a locally-stored cache of email sitting on the disk drive of your computer, and it's unknown how closely this matches up with your Gmail account's Sent Mail folder.
Can you try unticking the "Place replies in folder of message being replied to" setting and see if that makes a difference to your duplicates?
Otherwise, if using IMAP and as long as your folder hierarchy and contents in Thunderbird are the same as when viewed in the Gmail web interface (local sent mail folder question notwithstanding) , you can expect this to simply re-sync when you reinstall Thunderbird. For your address books, you'll have to (for example) manually export these (e.g. Tools -> Export). Note that I'm not taking any responsibility for data loss if you go ahead with this, so if in doubt double-check online or look for some professional help. Also refer to the usual help articles for backing up (e.g. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb)

Thanks for your help
Sorry to bother you again. I thought I solved the problem by taking out some filters, but it did not change anything. Every time I reply to an E-mail the reply also end up in my inbox. I can backup my emails I think, then I could delete my profile and reinstall Thunderbird?
